Appendix B - Creating and editing pages in Xplay
Creating and adding embedded pages to a playlist
If you require a graphic page for an individual playlist, and you are sure that the page will
never be used outside of the playlist, then we suggest that you create an embedded page.
Embedded pages exist only within a playlist, and it is the playlist that is saved as a whole in
the Xmedia Server. As a result, the individual page does not exist anywhere else, not even
in the Pages root category of the Asset Browser (see
“Embedded versus Shared pages” on
page 7-2 for more information).
Although most embedded pages are created in Xbuilder, Xplay does offer the ability to
create and add embedded pages to a playlist. The following sections describe the various
methods that you can use to create and add embedded pages to a playlist in Xplay:

Creating and adding a single embedded page
The following procedure describes how to create a single embedded page in Xplay by
selecting a template, editing template’s variable fields and then adding it to the currently
loaded playlist.
If it is your intention to create more than one new embedded page, we recommend that you
use the procedure described on
page 7-5 .
To create and add a single embedded page to the playlist:

Select F ILE >I NSERT N EW P AGE .

Press C
TRL +E.
Or,
Select the I
NSERT N EW P AGE button in the Playlist window toolbar.
The S ELECT A TEMPLATE FOR THE NEW GRAPHIC dialog box appears (figure 7-1 ).
