Establishing an Item Unit of Measure Range

When you enable the Multiple UOM feature in the System Options
form\Features tab, you are required to enter a UOM value in the Item Data
form. (If this feature is not enabled, the system will not use any UOM val-
ues.) The multiple Unit of Measure (UOM) feature enables you to handle
a single item’s various units of measure (UOM). All UOM entries in the
UOM lookup table are displayed in the field’s UOM drop-down list. (For
more information about UOM entries in the UOM lookup table, please
refer to

“Unit of Measure” on page 56

). The operator must first establish the

UOM range (each, box, case, or as defined for that item) for each new
item.

To establish the UOM range for a new item:

1.

Click the Units of Measure tab to bring this section of the form to the
front.

2.

Click in the first UOM field.

3.

Click the drop-down arrow in the UOM field and select the UOM for
this item from the drop-down list that appears. Press the <Tab> key to
advance to the Each Count field.

4.

Enter the unit quantity in the Each Count field. [For example, the each
count for the default system unit of measure {Each} is one (1). If you
entered another value in the UOM Lookup table such as Case, and you
assign the Case UOM to this item, the each count for a case of this item
must be entered in the Each Count field. For example, the each count
for a case of this item could be ten (10).] Press the <Tab> key to
advance to the Unit Cost field.

5.

Enter the value of the unit of measure in the Unit Cost field. (For
example, if the value of the each count of this item is $1.00, the value
for a case that contains 10 count of this item would be 10.00.)

6.

Repeat steps 3–5 for each of the item’s UOMs.

Assigning a
Primary
Location for
the Item

You are able to assign a primary location to this item. This means that the
item will be associated with this location in the application reports and
inventory tracking features. The item’s primary location is set in the Pri-
mary
Location tab.

To assign a primary location to an item:

1.

From the Item Data form, click the Primary Location tab to bring this
section to the front.
