IntelliTrack ISRP Architecture

IntelliTrack ISRP is built on the three-tier architecture recommended by
Microsoft for client/server environments. Three separate areas integrate to
form your IntelliTrack ISRP product: the workstation application, the
server, and the database; thus forming a scalable client/server that can han-
dle a large number of users against a large database. IntelliTrack ISRP
minimizes network traffic by shifting transactions to the back end through
a middle tier that provides accessibility to upgrades.

First Tier:
Workstation
Area

The first tier of IntelliTrack ISRP is the workstation application and is
comprised of the graphic user interface (GUI objects), including forms,
reports, etc. This is the part of ISRP that you use to enter information, gen-
erate reports, etc. The local tables are generated from data provided by the
second tier (middle layer). All transactions (picking, receiving, moves,
inventory adjustments, etc.) initiated in this first tier are sent to the second
tier to be processed.

Workstation Components

The workstation components of IntelliTrack ISRP consist of the program
applications used from the PC desktop:

Workstation Application: The PC desktop application.

Batch Terminal Communications: The connection between the PC
and handheld device for purposes of transferring data or ISRP program
setting.

Import/Export Utility: A separate utility that allows you to import
data into its database tables and export data from them. Import and
export data is stored in text files (files with a .txt extension). A folder
is created during installation to hold these files and is found in your
program directory (\IntelliTrack\ISRP\Import Export).

Second Tier:
Server

The second tier, also referred to as the middle layer, receives transactions
from the application and processes the transactions. The results are then
returned to the first tier.
