Receiving Area

Your warehouse receiving area is the space allocated to accept, inspect,
and process receiving orders; therefore, it is critical to determine what
space is needed for these processes.

When allocating space for the receiving area, ask these questions:

1.

What are the size and quantity of shipments?

2.

What equipment is needed to process and move material into storage?

3.

Given the flow of material, where are the most efficient bulk storage
locations on site?

Furthermore, we recommend calculating the time taken to put-away mate-
rial from receiving to bulk storage locations. This is an effective method to
identify the most cost effective storage locations. For more information on
