Reaching the Import and Export Options

Importing and exporting asset inventory data adds a flexibility to the Intel-
liTrack Inventory system and integrates Inventory with accounting and
spreadsheet software.

All of the importing and exporting functions can be reached from the rib-
bon: select Import > Import and Export groups > Import and Export
options from the ribbon.

Importing Inventory Data

Import capabilities in IntelliTrack Inventory are influenced by the
Microsoft Access version being used (a full version of Microsoft Access or
the runtime version of Microsoft Access).

The runtime version of Access contains limited capabilities. Item defi-
nitions can be imported. Site, location, and quantity information must
be manually assigned. For more information about assigning this infor-
mation, please refer to the steps found in

“Edit Existing/Incomplete Item

Data” on page 106

.

With a full version of Microsoft Access and familiarity with its import-
ing functions, the user can import a complete, existing inventory data-
base from a wide variety of sources, including spreadsheets and
databases.

The runtime Access import method works with both versions of Microsoft
Access. Only the runtime Access import method, using Import/Append is
covered in this section. For more information about custom Access import-
ing with a full version of Microsoft Access, please refer to

“Full Access

Import” on page 308

.
