RDA
Configuration

Important: The sections that follow deal with advanced network settings.
Consult your system administrator to determine the best Remote Data
Access (RDA) setup option for your system.

The required components for Remote Data Access (RDA) can be installed
on your system in various configurations: installing all components on a
single computer, distributing the components between two computers, or
distributing the components on three or more computers. Another compo-
nent to RDA is permissions. In a domain setting, active directory permis-
sions must be allowed for PCs in the network domain that receive data
from the DMS Batch application. Please note that in a workgroup setting,
active directory is not used (local permissions are used).

RDA Setup Categories

IntelliTrack contains two RDA setup categories:

1.

Automatic IIS Setup: allows for automatic IIS-IntelliTrack CE con-
figuration when you run the Create IIS Dependencies Utility. This util-
ity is run during IntelliTrack software installation when you opt to
automatically configure IIS. The utility is also accessible from the
DMS Program menu: Start > Programs > IntelliTrack > DMS Appli-
cation
> Create IIS Dependencies Utility.
For more information about automatic IIS setup options, please see

“Automatic IIS RDA Setup Options” on page 22

. For more information

about the Create IIS Dependencies Utility, please see

“Create IIS

Dependencies Utility” on page 24

.

In order for the Create IIS Dependencies Utility to properly config-
ure IIS, IIS must be installed and configured according to the batch
installation prerequisites for your operating system:
Windows 7/Windows Vista:

“Batch Installation Prerequisites for

Windows Vista and Windows 7” on page 9

.

Windows Server 2008:

“Batch Installation Prerequisites for Win-

dows Server 2008” on page 13

.

Windows XP/Windows Server 2003:

“Batch Installation Prerequi-

sites for Windows XP/Windows Server 2003” on page 14

.

2.

Manual IIS Setup: cannot use the IntelliTrack Create IIS Dependen-
cies Utility to configure IIS for the IntelliTrack CE Batch communica-
tion. You must manually configure IIS. Manual IIS setup involves
