Action Conventions

This documentation uses action conventions to explain screen actions such
as using the computer mouse, selecting ribbon command tab and ribbon
options, clicking buttons, choosing settings and options, responding to
Query and Dialog box prompts, and using the keyboard.

Mouse
Actions

Use the computer mouse to open and close the application and to select
options, buttons, command tabs, and command set items. Mouse actions
that are used in this documentation include:

Click: Clicking is used to select specific buttons on various forms and
tables. When instructed to click in this manual: press, then immediately
release the left mouse button without moving the mouse.

Double-click: Double-clicking is used to initiate (or open) an applica-
tion. When instructed to double-click in this manual: click the left
mouse and hold the right mouse button without moving the mouse.

Right-click: Right-clicking is used to open specific right-click menu
options. When instructed to right-click in this manual: press and hold
the right mouse button without moving the mouse.

Select: Selecting refers to clicking and releasing the left mouse button
to choose an item or items from a drop-down list.

Selecting
Ribbon
Options

You are often instructed to select a Tab in the ribbon. Selecting a Ribbon
Tab displays ribbon options related to the Tab. From the ribbon, you are
able to open application forms. Steps that involve two or more selections
are presented as a combination selection; the command tab and ribbon
options are presented in sequence, divided by “>”.For example, when you
are instructed to:

Select Manage > Inventory > Location Data from the ribbon:

1.

Click on the Manage Tab to reach the Manage options in the ribbon.
The Manage options appear in the ribbon. They include Security,
Inventory, and Lookup Tables.
