Disabling
User Account
Control

If you use the Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 oper-
ating system, you must disable user account control in order for the Intelli-
Track application and DMS database to connect with each other. To disable
User Account Control, please follow these basic steps, or consult your
Windows help.

Windows Vista/Windows Server 2008: To disable User Account Control
in Windows Vista, open the Control Panel. Enter UAC in the Search box;
a link to turn off User Account Control appears onscreen. Click this link;
unmark the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your com-
puter
check box and then click OK. Restart your computer to enact this
change.

Windows 7: Enter UAC in the Start menu or Control Panel search box.
A link appears for you to Change User Account Control Settings; click
this link to reach the User Account Control Settings. You are able to set a
notification slider for user account control; set this slider to Never Notify
to disable User Account Control.

Installation
and Activation

Please refer to the IntelliTrack DMS Quick Start Guide for installation
instructions.

During IntelliTrack installation, the application and database connection is
set. In order to use your application, the database must be properly
attached to the application; it is also important to manage and maintain
your database. For more information on working with the database, see

“Verifying Database Connection” on page 244

;

“Connecting to the Data-

base with SQL Server Management Studio” on page 249

; and

“Database

Maintenance” on page 257

The IntelliTrack installation CD includes a run-time (limited) version of
Microsoft Access. The run-time version allows full use of IntelliTrack and
all of its features, but does not allow changes to the design of custom
reports, and special queries. To customize your application beyond the
built-in features and setup options, you must install a full version of
Microsoft Access. It is usually a good idea for end users to use the run-time
version so that the application is not accidentally modified. For more infor-
mation, please refer to

“Using Microsoft Access with DMS Inventory” on

page 2
