DMS Batch Installation Overview

This section covers DMS CE Batch installation issues and procedures. Use
the DMS Batch application to collect data remotely with a batch portable
device.

Important: This section pertains to DMS CE Batch only. If you are using
DMS RF Server and RF portable devices, this section DOES NOT apply to
you. If you are using DMS RF, please consult your DMS RF Guide, which
is available in PDF format from the DMS RF Start menu: Start > All Pro-
grams > IntelliTrack > DMS > Inventory > RF Server.

The IntelliTrack DMS Batch application is installed on the batch portable
device. The DMS Batch application must be run locally from each batch
portable device that is using it; hence, you must install the DMS batch por-
table application on each device that will use it.

Use the DMS Batch application to collect data remotely with a batch porta-
ble device. Once you collect your data, upload the collected data to the
workstation application. (DMS Batch uses a SQL CE database that inte-
grates with the central SQL server database in the workstation application.)

IntelliTrack applications use Remote Data Access (RDA) for workstation-
batch communication. RDA encompasses many components and involves
system setup. The following sections go through the DMS Batch installa-
tion setup process. The procedures will vary according to your operating
system (Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows
Server 2008, or Windows 7). Please consider your DMS Batch setup
BEFORE installing DMS.

Warning: If Remote Data Access is not properly setup and configured, the
workstation and device will not be able to communicate with each other.
