inventory adjustments, etc.) initiated in this first tier are sent to the second
tier to be processed.

Workstation Components

The workstation components of IntelliTrack WMS consist of the program
applications used from the PC desktop:

Workstation Application: The PC desktop application.

Import/Export Utility: A separate utility that allows you to import
data into its database tables and export data from them. Import and
export data is stored in text files (files with a .txt extension). A folder is
created during installation to hold these files and is found in your pro-
gram directory (\IntelliTrack\WMS\Import Export).

Second Tier:
Server

The second tier, also referred to as the middle layer, receives transactions
from the application and processes the transactions. The results are then
returned to the first tier.

Server Components

The server components of IntelliTrack WMS refer to the “back end” por-
tion of the product, which runs and houses the data:

SQL Server or SQL Express: Microsoft SQL Express is the default
database structure if Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or higher is not
installed.

License Service: The IntelliTrack License Service controls access to
the application's user licenses.

RF Server: The RF Server that interfaces between the WMS database
and an RF portable; it must be opened as a separate application.

Third Tier:
Database

The third tier is the database back end. The database is the collection of
data that resides within IntelliTrack WMS.
