Preparing Warehouse Data

A warehouse operates within a dynamic environment in which material
moves from receiving to storage to shipping. In order for the warehouse to
operate efficiently, plan your material storage and warehouse layout based
upon how the goods and materials are received, stored, picked, and
shipped.

Important: For optimal use of IntelliTrack WMS, we recommend assem-
bling the relevant warehouse data; establishing the warehouse layout; and
determining the receiving, picking, and shipping procedures BEFORE
installing and using the application.

Assembling
Warehouse
Data

To assemble your warehouse data, be sure to review the following areas of
your warehouse operation:

Define Storage Locations

Define Items

Calculate Available Space (to support the Cubing feature)

Note: The cubing feature is available in RF Professional ONLY.

Defining Storage Locations

Here are three simple steps to help you define warehouse storage locations:

1.

Clearly define all of the storage locations within the warehouse, includ-
ing the boundaries that separate them.

2.

Determine whether these locations accommodate all the item types,
shapes and sizes that are required. This may include zones, aisles, rows,
and storage areas in a controlled environment for storing hazardous,
valuable, or temperature controlled materials.

3.

Once these locations are set, identify them with a combination of num-
bers and letters.
