scanner vendor for prices on the different scanner types. If you are using a LonPoint device, or a
device with a similar bar code label, it is recommended that you use a gun-style laser or LED scanner.
One scanner that you can use with IzoT Commissioning Tool devices is the Symbol Technologies LS
3000, which is made available by Barcode Logics. See your scanner documentation for instructions on
programming the scanner.
Commissioning an IP-852 Router
To commission an IP-852 router such as a SmartServer (with IP-852 routing option), i.LON 100
Internet Server (with IP-852 routing), or i.LON 600 IP-852 router, follow these steps:
1. Use the IP-852 Configuration Server to add the IP-852 router to the IP-852 channel as described
under Using an IP 852 Network Interface in Chapter 3. Leave the IP-852 Configuration Server
open and return to IzoT Commissioning Tool.
2. Right-click the i.LON IP-852 router’s SmartShape and then select Commission from the shortcut
menu. The Commission Device Wizard opens.
3. If you are commissioning a SmartServer or i.LON 100 Internet Server, select the initial state and
source of the configuration property values for the Web server.
4. Select the initial state of the IP-852 router. Click Next.
5. Select the device identification method. Click Next.
6. Press the service pin of the IP-852 router, or manually enter its Neuron ID and click Finish. The
IP-852 router will be commissioned.
7. Repeat steps 2–6 for additional IP-852 routers. Close the IP-852 Configuration Server.
Commissioning Using Device Discovery
You can install a network by automatically discovering the devices to be commissioned. With the
device discovery method, IzoT Commissioning Tool searches the physical network for
uncommissioned devices that match device SmartShapes defined in your OpenLNS CT drawing.
Devices are matched based on their program ID and channel. If there is no unique match, you can
select the appropriate device by winking it or by pressing a service pin. After discovered devices are
matched with defined SmartShapes, you can have IzoT Commissioning Tool commission the devices.
You can use the device discovery method to quickly install networks that have been designed with the
engineered system installation scenario.
To install a network using the device discovery method, follow these steps:
1. Click Add-ins, point to LonWorks Network, and then click Discover Devices. The Device
Discovery Filters dialog box opens.
