IP-852 Network Interface

Software that enables IP-852 devices such as OpenLNS Server computers, IzoT Commissioning Tool
computers, IP-852 routers, and native IP-852 devices to be attached to an IP-852 channel. An IP-852
network interface requires that the IP-852

Configuration Server be configured before trying to

communicate with remote devices or remote computers. IP-852 routers include the SmartServer,
i.LON 100 Internet Server, and i.LON 600 IP-852 Router.

IP-852 Router

An IP-852 router forwards ISO/IEC 14908-1 packets enveloped in ISO/IEC 14908-4 packets over an
IP-852 channel. IP-852 routers include the SmartServer, i.LON 100 Internet Server, and i.LON 600
IP-852 Router.

IzoT Commissioning Tool

An OpenLNS network tool that uses Visio as its graphical user interface. IzoT Commissioning Tool is
used to design, commission, maintain, and document distributed control networks comprised of both

and other L

devices.

IzoT Commissioning Tool Device Manager

An OpenLNS dialog that lets you test, wink, disable, change the application state, and override
application devices, functional blocks, and routers.

IzoT Commissioning Tool Event Log

A shared log in which IzoT Commissioning Tool stores every change made to an OpenLNS CT
drawing by every IzoT Commissioning Tool user on the network. All IzoT Commissioning Tools
check the log when they open an OpenLNS CT drawing and periodically thereafter, and update their
copies of an OpenLNS CT drawing based on the log entries. The IzoT Commissioning Tool Event
Log enables multiple IzoT Commissioning Tools to stay synchronized with the OpenLNS database and
with each other, and it reduces instances in which an OpenLNS CT drawing needs to be manually
resynchronized.

IzoT Commissioning Tool Layers

Separate views for the physical, logical, and data components in an IzoT Commissioning Tool network
that can be used to hide and show parts of an OpenLNS CT drawing. The physical layer includes
devices, routers, channels; the logical layer contains the functional blocks, network variables, and
unmonitored connections; and the data layer consists of monitored connections. Subsystems and
supernodes belong to both the physical and logical layers.

IzoT Commissioning Tool Network Design

An OpenLNS network database and an associated OpenLNS CT drawing.

IzoT Commissioning Tool Shape

A reusable drawing object related specifically to a L

device, connection, channel, or

subsystem.

IzoT Commissioning Tool Style

A SmartShape style indicating the state of a device, functional block, connection, or network
variable/message tag.

LAN

Local area network. A LAN is a communications network that links a number of different
workstations in the same area. The local area may be defined as the same building or campus of
buildings. Using the LAN, individual workstations or computers can send messages and files to each
other and to shared devices, such as printers, disk storage, and other computer systems. LAN
performance is measured in the amount of data that can be transmitted and received, usually expressed
as megabits or gigabits transmitted per second, so its critical factor is speed.
