The devices on the IP-852 channel will not be fully commissioned until you run OpenLNS
applications such as the OpenLNS Server or IzoT Commissioning Tool on each of the
OpenLNS Server or IzoT Commissioning Tool computers. For more information, see the

Creating and Opening IzoT Commissioning Tool
Networks
An IzoT Commissioning Tool network consists of an OpenLNS CT drawing and an OpenLNS network
database. IzoT Commissioning Tool provides several ways to create an IzoT Commissioning Tool
network, including the following methods:
• Create a new IzoT Commissioning Tool network design. Use this method if you are engineering a
new network, or if you want to redo the logical design of an existing network.
• Use an existing OpenLNS database to create an OpenLNS CT drawing. Use this method to use
IzoT Commissioning Tool with a network that was previously installed with an OpenLNS
application other than IzoT Commissioning Tool.
• Create an IzoT Commissioning Tool network design from an existing physical network, which
creates a new OpenLNS network database and an OpenLNS CT drawing. This method is called
network recovery. Use this method if the network is operational and was originally installed with
an application not based on OpenLNS or was self-installed. You can also use this method with a
network that was previously installed with an OpenLNS application, but does not have its original
network database. IzoT Commissioning Tool can recover a network without changing the device
applications or network configuration. See Recovering an IzoT Commissioning Tool Network in
Chapter 7, Maintaining Networks, for more information on how to use network recovery and for a
summary of the limitations of network recovery.
• Copy an existing IzoT Commissioning Tool network design. Use this method to create a new
network that is similar to an existing network.
Creating an IzoT Commissioning Tool Network Design
You can create a new IzoT Commissioning Tool network design to engineer a new network or to redo
the logical design of an existing network. To create a new network design, you must use IzoT
