Priority

An ISO/IEC 14908-1 Control Network Protocol service for messages sent from L

ON

W

ORKS

devices

that allow a message priority access to a channel. Priority traffic is delivered before other traffic.
Priority is a resource of the channel.

Protocol Analyzer

A tool that can read every packet on a L

ON

W

ORKS

channel. A protocol analyzer is different from a

device containing the complete ISO/IEC 14908-1 Control Network Protocol stack in that it can receive
every packet on the network, not just packets that are addressed to it. Protocol analyzers allow users to
observe, analyze, and diagnose the behavior of installed L

ON

W

ORKS

networks. The LonScanner

Protocol Analyzer includes the following tools for network analysis and diagnosis:

• Packet monitor tool
• Network traffic statistics tool
• Network diagnostics tool

Recommissioning

Process in which IzoT Commissioning Tool downloads network and application configuration data
into a physical device that was previously commissioned with IzoT Commissioning Tool.

Reference Connection

An IzoT Commissioning Tool connection represented by a pair of identically named SmartShapes
attached to both ends of the connection. Reference connection SmartShapes can be used to simplify an
OpenLNS CT drawing and connect functional blocks and supernodes in different subsystems.

Remote Full Client

An IzoT Commissioning Tool computer that communicates with the OpenLNS Server running on a
separate computer over a L

ON

W

ORKS

channel (an IP-852 or native L

ON

W

ORKS

channel). On a remote

full client, network management tasks are routed through the OpenLNS Server, but monitoring and
controlling tasks are sent directly to the network without going through the OpenLNS Server.

Remote Lightweight Client

An IzoT Commissioning Tool computer that communicates with the OpenLNS Server running on a
separate computer using an OpenLNS/IP interface. On a remote lightweight client, network
management, monitoring, and controlling tasks are all routed through the OpenLNS Server.

Repeated Service

A service of the ISO/IEC 14908-1 Control Network Protocol with which a message is sent more than
once to help ensures message delivery to the addressee(s). The message is sent with a configurable
number of retries. There is no acknowledgement from the addressee(s) that the message has been
delivered.

Reset

Network management command that stops a device application, terminates all incoming and outgoing
messages, sets all temporary settings to their initial values, and then restarts the device application. If a
device was offline, it is placed online.

Resource File

A file included with a L

ON

W

ORKS

device that defines the components of the device interface to be

used by IzoT Commissioning Tool. Defined components include functional blocks, network variables,
and configuration properties implemented by the device application. Resource files allow for the
correct interpretation and formatting of the data, and they are necessary for L

ON

M

ARK

certification of

a device.
