Configuring the PoE power

Configuring the maximum PSE power

The maximum PSE power is the sum of power that the PDs connected to the PSE can get.
To avoid PSE power interruption due to PoE power overload, make sure the sum of power of all PSEs is
less than the maximum PoE power.
The maximum power of the PSE must be greater than or equal to the total maximum power of all critical

PoE interfaces on the PSE to guarantee these PoE interfaces of power.
To configure the maximum PSE power:

Configuring the maximum PoE interface power

The maximum PoE interface power is the maximum power that the PoE interface can provide to the

connected PD. If the PD requires more power than the maximum PoE interface power, the PoE interface

does not supply power to the PD.

Configuring PoE power management

PoE power management involves PSE power management and PoE interface power management.

Configuring PSE power management

If the maximum PoE power is lower than the sum of the maximum power that all PSEs require, PSE power
management is applied to decide whether the PSE can enable PoE, whether to supply power to a specific

PSE, and the power-allocation method. If the maximum PoE power of the device is higher than the sum

of the maximum power that all PSEs require, it is unnecessary to enable PSE power management.
