Example: defining a new set of strings

If you want to use a set of strings in English that is different from the default set:

Load a text file or take it from the keyboard.

Choose language No. 2 (ENGLISH) in the reference window and language No. 7, for example, in the edit
window. Select the first string.

Click on the string in the edit window and enter your new language name, e.g. “ENGLISH 2”.

Repeat the procedure to edit all or part of the strings in the file, also using the Special Character table if
necessary.

WARNING!!
The new language cannot contain empty strings.

A quick way of copying the various protocols is to select the string and click on the

key. At this stage

the original string will have been copied into the edit window.

On completion, click on the

key to download the new strings to the keyboard. If you want to save the

new file in the PC click on the

.key.

When you have completed the download, in order to be able to use the new language you must select the
corresponding number (No. 7 in this case) in the language selection menu (see § 4.2.2 - Language, page
22
).

Keyboard Maps

Keyboard Maps is without a doubt the programme that provides the greatest opportunities for exploiting the
potential and flexibility of the keyboard. With this programme the user can not only customise the functions
associated with each key depending on specific conditions; it is also possible to customise the graphics
appearance of the keys and the backgrounds of the maps. These possibilities can all be used to make keyboard
use even more intuitive and user friendly in the specific situations where it is to be used.
The 30 available maps constitute the GRAPHICS environment of the keyboard; in each map it is possible to
define a maximum of 40 keys, and each one can be associated with one or more keyboard functions.
