5 VIDEO MANAGEMENT

5.1 Introduction

The keyboard is provided with a VIDEO connector to control the video devices. It is necessary to set up both
the keyboard and the controlled device appropriately, because the same communication protocol and
communication rate (baud rate) should be selected for each of them.
If these parameters are configured incorrectly there will be no communication between the devices.

5.1.1

Video: fundamental concepts

All commands sent by the keyboard are directed to the active monitor/video unit, which is always indicated on
the display.

Selecting the camera is subordinate to its acceptance. If a camera has not been given an accepted value
previously , any attempt to select it will produce an error message.

Given that not all functions are recognised by the various video devices (DVR, MUX or matrix), if the
operator attempts to send a command that is inconsistent with a given Video protocol, he will be advised of
this by an error message.

The

DCT

keyboard is able to control various types of systems and therefore the appearance of the

video/telemetry control area will differ according to the chosen configuration and the device under
selection. There are three distinct situations:

a matrix connected to the VIDEO connector

one or more DVR/MUX connected to the VIDEO connector

a matrix connected to the VIDEO connector and one or more DVR/MUX connected in cascade to the
matrix.
