1.3 Web-based Interface
The user-friendly Web-based interface gives you the option of operating the
device from any location in the network via a standard browser such as
Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer.
As a universal access tool, the Web browser uses an applet which commu-
nicates with the device via the Simple Network Management Protocol
(SNMP).

Opening the Web-based Interface
To open the Web-based interface, you will need a Web browser
(a
program that can read hypertext), for example Mozilla Firefox version
1 or later, or Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 or later.
Note: The Web-based interface uses the Java software version 5 or later
(Java™ Runtime Environment Version 1.5.x or 6.x). If it is not installed on
your computer yet, it will be installed automatically via the Internet when
you start the Web-based interface for the first time.
For Windows users: If you don´t have any access to the internet cancel
the installation. Install the software from the enclosed CD-ROM. To do
this, you go to “Additional Software”, select Java Runtime Environ-
ment and click on “Installation”.
