CU

Central unit of system, usually common for several lifts in one building.

Splitter

Connects announcers with CU. Each lift shaft has its splitter.

Unit serving for voice communication with control centre or with other
unit of the system

The central unit is connected with a splitter and group of announcers

6 wires (power, audio, data) connecting CU with splitters

bus

double wire connecting splitter with announcers of given lift

call

Server

triphony

internal communication between announcers, usually between all
announcers of one lift, for example during repairs or rescuing of people

Workplace which takes emergency calls. There can also be separate
workplaces for various types of call, and it may consist of the mobile
telephones of workers.

DISA

automatic voice menu serving to route an incoming call to the required
announcer or for the activation of other functions, for example remote
programming

PBX

Private branch exchange (equipped with connection to PSTN and
analogue local lines)

PSTN

Public telephone network. For simplicity’s sake, in the text it is assumed
that the CU is connected to the PSTN but works the same as on the PBX
line.

GSM

Global mobile communication system

UMTS

Universal Mobile Telecommunication System

TCP

Transmission Control Protocol is one of the basic protocols of the

ST
