Creating 3Com Mapping Tables

The Default 3Com Mapping Table maps 3Com VLAN 1 to 16 to the
Avaya Default VLAN and 3Com VLANs 2 through 16 to the Avaya
Discard VLAN. In a network with multiple 3Com devices, it is
possible that some parts of a network will use differentiae VLAN
mappings for incoming 3Com tagged packets. The switch allows you
to create additional 3Com mapping tables to use in situations where
this occurs.

* Note: 3Com trunks do not work across hunt groups.

You can create 3Com mapping tables form either the web agent or
the CLI.

Binding Type

Static - when ports are added manually and can

be removed.

Persistent - when ports are bound to VLANs

automatically but can not be removed.
automatically (i.e., if a VLAN Binding for a port is
set to 'Bind to All')

Dynamic - when port is assigned to VLAN using

automatic VLAN binding, which causes ports to
bind to VLANs using the Bind to Received switch
port setting. The VLAN may be deleted from port,
but if VLAN biding is "Bind-to-Receive", the VLAN
may be re-added to the port upon receiving tagged
traffic.

Refer to “Configuring Port VLAN Parameters,” in
Chapter 5 for more information.

Frame Format

From Port - causes port to send frames using the

frame format specified in the Trunk Mode
attribute of the corresponding switch port.

Note:

Refer to “Configuring Port VLAN Parameters,”

in Chapter 5 for more information.

Clear - causes port to send untagged frames on

this port for this VLAN.
