Configuring Port Parameters

5-33

Configuring Port VLAN Parameters

You can set the parameters on a port VLAN to determine how traffic
is flooded to VLANs when tagged and untagged packets are received
on the port.

* Notes: See the examples later in this section for

recommendations on how to set particular trunk port
connections.

Refer to VLAN Operation, in Chapter 11, for more
information on creating VLANs.

Refer to "Viewing Switch Port Parameters", earlier in this
chapter, for information about accessing the Switch Port
window.

You can configure port VLAN parameters using either the web agent
or the CLI.

Configuring
Port VLAN
Parameters
Using the Web
Agent

To configure port VLAN parameters using the web agent:

* Note: This procedure begins at the Switch Port Configuration

dialog box. Refer to "Configuring Switch Port
Parameters Using the Web Agent",
steps 1 through 4.

1. Select Default from the Port VLAN field pull-down menu on

the Switch Configuration dialog box. This causes all untagged
frames arriving on this port to be assigned to the specified
VLAN. The port will still assign incoming tagged packets to
the VLAN indicated by the tag.

2. Select an option from the Trunk Mode field

pull-down menu. The options are Clear (default), IEE
802.1Q, Multi-layer, and 3Com. Refer to Table 5-7 for an
explanation of these options.

3. Select an option from the Frame Tags field

pull-down menu. The options are Use (default) and Ignore.
Refer to Table 5-7 for an explanation of these options.

4. Select an option from the VLAN Binding field

pull-down menu. The options are Static (default),
Bind-to-All, and Bind-to-Receive. Refer to Table 5-8 for an
explanation of these options.
