Service Account Permissions

Some services need to run as an Administrator user. A local or domain account
may be used so long as it has local Administrator rights. If the user account has
insufficient rights, the service will fail to load with the error “

Bad open ring 0 /

kernel mode driver

.”

Should the service account’s password change, the account is disabled, or the
account is otherwise unusable, the service will fail to load with the error

System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot start service mloader on

computer '.'. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The service
did not start due to a logon failure.

” In the event this occurs, go to the

Start Menu ► Control Panel ► Administrative Tools ► Services. Find the
service, right-click on it and click on Properties, then go to the Log On tab. The
account can be verified and updated here. Re-enter the password to ensure it is
correct.

2.3.2.1

Service Account Printers

Some NET SatisFAXtion modules make use of printers (notably

2.5.5 Autoprint

2.11 Scanner / MFP

). The fax server will only see those printers configured

for the service account and visible in the account’s Printers and Faxes folder.
