5.1

Important Interface Operation Notes

To use the turboIP-G2 Command Line Interface (CLI) or Web Server Graphical
User Interface (GUI), assumptions are made that:

The turboIP-G2 is connected to a user-supplied, Windows-based PC, and:

o

The PC’s serial port is connected to the turboIP-G2 ‘CONSOLE’ port.

o

The PC’s Ethernet port is connected to the turboIP-G2 ‘MGT’ Ethernet

port (available only on units manufactured from November 2010 to
present) with a user-supplied hub, switch, or direct Ethernet cable
connection.

o

The PC is running a terminal emulation program (for operation of the

turboIP-G2 serial Command Line Interface) and a compatible Web
browser (for operation of the
turboIP-G2 Web Server GUI).

The turboIP-G2 supports a basic menu-driven interface – the Command Line Interface (CLI) – that is
accessible using the ‘CONSOLE’ serial port provided on the rear panel. In addition, the Web Server
Graphical User Interface (GUI) is available via connection to the ‘MGT’ port, an RJ-45, 10/100/1000
BaseT Ethernet management interface that is dedicated for monitor and control purposes.

Each interface contains the same functionality, with one exception: the USERID and PASSWORD
are configurable only via the CLI, for obvious security reasons.

This chapter provides a high-level overview of the functionality provided by these interfaces and
references other chapters for further details.
