Reference Junction Compensation Accuracy Test

Cautions When Performing This Test

• Multiple modules can be tested simultaneously during this test. When connecting

multiple modules to the MX100/MW100, install the modules contiguously starting from
the right side as shown in the figure below. Also, when installing fewer than 6 modules
(fewer than the number of modules that can be installed on the MX150), install the
MX110-H04 (High Speed Input Module) to the left of the modules being tested.

Assembly under test

Use an MX110-UNV-H04 as the dummy.

Module of the jig

• Use a calibrated thermocouple (Type-T), preferably one with wires of a diameter less

than 0.5 mm, and with no terminal tip.

• Monitor the 0°C standardized temperature tank, confirming that it stays at 0±0.01°C.
If the temperature tank is off, confirm that the difference is within the allowable range.
• When using a zero-controlled device, the tip of the thermocouple floats 5-10 mm off

the bottom. However, that distance varies depending on the model. Please see the
user’s manual.

• Perform the test in a stable environment. If drafts are present, position the equipment

to avoid them.

• Allow the instruments to warm up for at least 30 minutes before performing the test.

Note that you must wait at least 15 minutes after wiring the thermocouple.

• After connecting the thermocouple, be sure to attach the terminal cover.
• If the measured values are questionable, record 50 to 100 data, then make a

determination based on the average or median value.

• Set it up so that only measurement channel 4 is required. In this case, the criteria are

as follows:

4 CH criteria: -0.3–0.3°C
If the test results do not meet the criteria, reconfirm the items above.

Procedure

Perform measurement using the Type-T thermocouple at 0°C.

1.

Set the measurement interval and filter as follows:

Measurement interval: 1 s
Filter: 0

2.

Confirm that the measured values on all channels meet the criteria given below.

3.

Confirm that the fluctuation when 50 data or more are measured is less than the

criterion below.

Measurement criterion:

0±0.4°C or less

Fluctuation criterion:

0.2°C or less
