9.27. Position the bracket against the machined boss

that it mounts to, and install the bolts that hold
the bracket to the cylinder. See Figure 9.27.

9.28. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 32-41 ft-lb (43-55

N-m) using an 18mm socket.

9.29. Install the drain plugs with seal washers in the

axle housing and both final drive housings.
Tighten them using a 17mm wrench.

9.30. Level the front axle using wood blocks or addi-

tional jackstands.

9.31. Fill the each final drive housing with 23.67 fl.oz.

(.7 L) of Cub Cadet 80W90 gear lube (P/N: 737-
03065).

NOTE: When full, any amount of gear lube
added will result in a like amount spilling out of
the fill port / sight plug.

9.32. Install the plugs and seal washers in each fill

port and tighten them using a 19mm wrench.

9.33. Fill the axle housing with 33.8 fl. oz. (1.0 L) of

Cub Cadet 80W90 gear lube.

NOTE: Thread the oil level gauge (dipstick) all
the way in, with a seal washer in-place, then
remove it to see if the gear lube level falls within
the cross-hatched zone on the gauge.

9.34. Install the front wheels on the tractor, and tighten

the lug bolts using a 19mm socket wrench.

9.35. Lower the tractor to the ground, and torque the

front lug bolts to 61-69 ft-lb.

9.36. Test-run the tractor in safe area, listening for any

unusual noises from the front drive axle. Allow
the tractor to sit in one spot long enough to iden-
tify and repair any gear lube leaks that may
occur before returning it to service.
