26.2. Inspect the flat washers and thrust bearing for
wear or damage. See Figure 26.2.
26.3. Remove the left axle stub shaft. See Figure 26.3.
NOTE: Lubricate the left axle stub shaft’s oil seal
and make certain a seal protector is used during
assembly.
26.4. Remove the external retaining ring securing the
left 42T drop axle gear to the left axle shaft using
large retaining ring pliers. See Figure 26.4.
NOTE: Make certain eye protection is worn.
26.5. Remove the left 42T drop axle gear from the left
axle shaft. See Figure 26.5.
