30.2. Remove the rear seat support bracket.
NOTE: The U channel faces forward.
31. DRIVE SHAFT:
31.1. Loosen both hex cap screws and hex flange lock
nuts securing the drive shaft to the hydrostatic
transmission pump’s input shaft using a 9/16”
socket and wrench. See Figure 31.1.
31.2. Rotate the drive shaft until the front portion of the
rear u-joint is horizontal.
NOTE: This is to allow for clearance between
the frame and the u-joint during removal and
installation.
31.3. Slide the drive shaft forward until it is clear of the
hydrostatic transmission pump’s input shaft. See
Figure 31.3.
32. HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION PUMP:
32.1. Remove the hydro suction tube connectors from
the straight fitting at the bottom of the transmis-
sion housing, and the straight fitting at the bot-
tom of the hydrostatic transmission pump using
1” wrenches. See Figure 32.1.
32.2. Remove the hydro suction tube.
32.3. Remove the hairpin securing the hydro control
rod to the hydro control arm using needle nose
pliers. See Figure 32.3.
NOTE: There is a hole in the right frame rail to
access the hairpin.
32.4. Remove the hydro control rod from the hydro
control arm.
