8.2.

Remove the 2000 PTO: 61T gear and inspect it
for wear or damage. See Figure 8.2.

NOTE: The shoulder of the 2000 PTO: 61T gear
faces the 540 PTO: 81T gear.

8.3.

Inspect the inner and outer 2000 PTO: 61T
gear’s ball bearings for damage or wear.

NOTE: If the ball bearing(s) is damaged, a blind
hole bearing puller will be required for removal.
The new bearing will need to be pressed into the
2000 PTO: 61T gear.

8.4.

Remove the 540 PTO: 81T gear and inspect it
for wear or damage.

8.5.

Inspect the 540 PTO shaft for wear or damage.

9.

540 PTO FRONT BALL BEARING:

9.1.

Remove the 540 PTO front ball bearing from the
transmission housing. See Figure 9.1.

9.2.

Inspect the 540 PTO front ball bearing for wear
or damage.

10.

PTO ACTUATOR SHAFT:

10.1. Remove the cupped set screw using a 5/32”

Allen wrench. See Figure 10.1.

NOTE: Loctite™ the threads during assembly.

10.2. Remove the detent spring using a small Allen

wrench. See Figure 10.12.

10.3. Remove the detent ball using a stick magnet and

a small Allen wrench.

NOTE: The detent ball must be pushed out from
the inside of the transmission housing.

10.4. Collapse the PTO actuator shaft’s compression

spring using a valve spring compressor. See Fig-
ure 10.4.
