7.14. Remove the oil seal from the front bearing

holder using a flat-blade screwdriver.
See Figure 7.14.

7.15. Inspect the inner bushing of the front axle bear-

ing holder for wear or damage. See Figure 7.15.

7.16. If the bushing needs to be replaced, use a three

sided muffler chisel to collapse the bushing,
being careful no to damage the surface of the
bore that the bushing fits into, then remove the
bushing.

7.17. Use an arbor press to install the new Bushing.

7.18. Remove the rear bearing holder from the axle

assembly. See Figure 7.18.

7.19. Remove the thrust washer.

NOTE: The small lubrication pockets on one
side of the thrust washer face the axle assembly
during assembly.

7.20. Remove the rear bearing holder’s oil seal using

a flat-blade screwdriver. See Figure 7.20.

7.21. Inspect the rear axle mounting bracket’s inner

bushing for wear or damage in the same manner
that the front axle mounting bracket was
inspected.

7.22. If repair of the rear axle mounting bracket is nec-

essary, use the same techniques described to
service the front axle mounting bracket.
