7.4.

Disengage the front drive shaft from the front
axle assembly by sliding the drive shaft rear-
ward.

7.5.

Slowly lower the axle assembly and slide it out
from beneath the tractor. See Figure 7.5.

7.6.

Place the axle assembly on a bench.

7.7.

Remove the grease fitting from the front bearing
holder using a 10mm wrench.
See Figure 7.7.

7.8.

Remove the front bearing holder from the axle
assembly. See Figure 7.8.

7.9.

Clean and inspect the contact surfaces on the
front of the axle assembly for damage. Surface
irregularities may be polished. Damage such as
deep scoring will necessitate repair by filling and
machining.

7.10. Clean and inspect the contact surfaces of the

front axle mounting bracket.

7.11. Check the fit of the bracket on the axle.

7.12. If clearance exceeds .014” (0.35mm), the front

mounting bracket must be disassembled for
bushing replacement follows:

7.13. Remove the thrust washer.

NOTE: The small lubrication pockets on one
side of the thrust washer face the axle assembly
during assembly.
