6.33. Remove the internal retaining ring from the pin-
ion gear housing using large retaining ring pliers.
See Figure 6.33.
6.34. Secure the pinion gear housing assembly in a
vice.
6.35. Drive the idler shaft out of the upper ball bearing
using a center punch and hammer.
See Figure 6.35.
6.36. Remove the final pinion idler gear.
6.37. Remove the upper ball bearing.
6.38. Inspect all of the components for wear or dam-
age. See Figure 6.38.
6.39. Remove the upper portion of the multi-piece oil
seal using a scraper to break it free and two flat-
blade screwdrivers. See Figure 6.39.
