21.

ENGINE STAND:

21.1. Loosen all five hex cap screws securing the front

portion of the drive shaft to the flywheel using a
13mm socket. See Figure 21.1.

NOTE: Secure the flywheel in position with the
front portion of the drive shaft.

21.2. Secure the front portion of the drive shaft and

remove all five hex cap screws using a 13mm
socket.

21.3. Secure the flywheel.

21.4. Remove all six hex cap screws securing the fly-

wheel to the crankshaft using 14mm socket. See
Figure 21.4.

NOTE: Make certain all six thread bore are
clean for assembly, and a liberal application of
Loctite™ is used on all six hex cap screws.

21.5. Mark the flywheel for correct installation.

NOTE: If the flywheel was not marked, use the
extra hole in the end of the crankshaft as a refer-
ence to install the flywheel back to its original
position.

21.6. Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.

21.7. Remove all three hex screws and lock washers

securing the starter mounting bracket to the
engine block using a 14mm socket. See Figure
21.7.

NOTE: Loctite™ the threads of the hex screws
during assembly.

21.8. Remove the starter bracket and starter.

NOTE: Make certain the starter bracket is prop-
erly seated on the guide pin during assembly.
