NOTE: There is a separate brake for each
wheel. With the right brake disconnected and
the parking brake set, the left wheel will be held
securely by the parking brake, but the right
wheel will be allowed to rotate.

1.15. Loosen the nut and shoulder bolt that center the

scissors bracket using a 3/4” wrench and a 5/8”
wrench. The bolt should be loose enough to
move light effort, but not loose enough to move
under its own weight. See Figure 1.15.

1.16.

Keep Safety in mind:

• Confirm that no unsafe conditions will arise

from starting the engine and operating the
drive system.

• Secure or remove any loose clothing or jewel-

ery that may present a hazard.

• The drive shaft will be spinning. Do not reach

over it or otherwise place yourself in a position
from which you may accidentally come into
contact with the drive shaft.

1.17. Start the engine and keep it at idle speed.

1.18. Slide the bolt up and down in the slot that it is

mounted in.

• Identify the point in travel where the wheels

begin to rotate forward.

• Identify the point in travel where the wheels

begin to rotate backward.

• Set the bolt at the mid-point between these

two positions. The wheels should not spin.
Secure the shoulder bolt by tightening the nut.

1.19. Turn the engine OFF.

1.20. Check the adjustment of the hydro control link:

• With the parking brake set, the hydro control

pedal will be locked in the Neutral position.

• Insert the post of the ferrule on the forward

end of the hydro control link into the slot in the
hydro control arm.

• Note the location of the post within the slot. It

should be at the extreme forward end of the
slot.

• If the post is not at the extreme forward end of

the slot, thread it up or down the length of the
hydro control rod until it is. See Figure 1.20.

1.21. Once correct adjustment has been achieved or

confirmed:

• Position the spring on the post of the ferrule.

• Insert the ferrule into the hydro control arm.

• Secure the ferrule with a hairpin clip.

• Hook the end of the spring into the notch in the

front of the hydro control arm.

NOTE: The post must be at the front of the slot
to provide some lost motion. The Reverse
Safety Switch is actuated directly by the hydro
control arm. The lost motion between the hydro
control arm and the hydro control link ensures
that the Reverse Safety Switch will be triggered
before the tractor actually begins to move back-
ward. The switch is visible in figure 1.10.
