2.4.

Measure the gap between the stop on the brake
link and the ferrule that connects it to the brake
arm. See Figure 2.4.

NOTE: The gap between the stop and the fer-
rule should be between .160”-.190”. The adjust-
ment is made at the front of each brake link. The
threads at the front of the brake link are 3/8-24.
One full rotation (360 degrees) of the ferrule will
result in .042” travel.

2.5.

Divide the amount that the brake is out of adjust-
ment by .042” to determe the number of turns to
make in the adjustment ferrule.

NOTE: Measurement may be made with
stacked blades on a feeler gauge. See
Figure 2.5.

2.6.

Release the parking brake.

2.7.

Locate the brake adjustment ferrule on the side
or sides that need to be adjusted.
See Figure 2.7.

NOTE: Both brake arms operate from a common
cross-shaft.

2.8.

Loosen the jam nut using a 9/16” wrench.

2.9.

Remove the hairpin clip that holds the ferrule to
the brake arm.

2.10. Thread the ferrule up or down the length of the

shaft to make any necessary adjustment.
See Figure 2.10.

2.11. Insert the ferrule into the hole in the brake arm.

2.12. Secure the ferrule with a hairpin clip.

2.13. Tighten the jam nut.
