Gathering

This function is used for sleeves, skirts and flounces.

RECOMMENDED INITIAL SETTINGS

Pattern: Straight stitch
Needle position: Center

Stitch length: 5

Foot: General purpose
Needle thread tension: Low

1. Without backstitching, make the first row of

straight stitching.

2. Lift the presser foot and the needle and turn the

fabric.

3. Lower the presser foot, and without trimming the

thread, make a second row of straight stitching

parallel to the first row.

4. Lift the presser foot, pull approximately 4” of

thread, cut the thread and remove the fabric.

5. Gathering is made by pulling both lower thread

ends simultaneously, and uniformly arranging the

puckered fabric.
