Overcasting
Overcasting is used to prevent the fabric edges from
fraying.
RECOMMENDED INITIAL SETTINGS
Pattern: Zigzag stitch
Needle position: Center
Stitch length: 1 - 2
Stitch width: Variable
Foot: General purpose
1. Place fabric under presser foot, positioning the
edge of the fabric in the center of the foot slot, as
shown in illustration 1.
2. Adjust stitch width so that one stitch is inside the
fabric and the other is just off of the edge of the
fabric, as shown in illustration 2. This procedure
allows the thread to wrap over the fabric edge.
