4.10.2 SNMP V3 Profile

SNMP V3 can provide more security functions when the user performs remote

management through SNMP protocol. It delivers SNMP information to the
administrator with user authentication; all of data between the switch and the

administrator are encrypted to ensure secure communication.

Security Level: Here the user can select the following levels of security: None,

Authentication, and “Authentication and Privacy”.

Auth. Protocol: Here the user can select either MD5 (Message-Digest algorithm 5)

or SHA (Secure Hash Algorithm). MD5 is a widely used cryptographic hash

function with a 128-bit hash value. SHA (Secure Hash Algorithm) hash functions

refer to five Federal Information Processing Standard-approved algorithms for

computing a condensed digital representation. The switch provides two user
