2.

Insert a thin nonmagnetic (preferably resin) sheet (approximately 0.5-
mm thick) in the air gap between the moving coil and magnetic way.
Then, move the moving coil slowly toward the magnetic way.

3.

Move the moving coil back and forth several times over the magnetic
way from end to end, making sure that the moving coil is not touching
the magnetic way and that no foreign objects (such as magnetic
particles) are present. Use a nonmagnetic (brass or stainless steel) gap
gauge to check that the air gap between the moving coil and magnetic
way is even (tolerance:

± 0.3 mm).

Always be aware of the strong magnetism of the magnetic way and
keep fingers and tools at a safe distance, especially when the moving
coil is near the magnetic way. The moving coil will be strongly
attracted to the magnetic way. When the specified dimensions of the
air gaps between the moving coil and the magnetic way are secured,
it is not necessary to insert nonmagnetic sheets into the air gaps. (see
the table of dimensions in step 1.)
