(2b) If a cam needs to be started absolutely, please note the following: at the start of the

cam the slave must be in the appropriate position in order to avoid a jump. In the context

of cam switching this will usually be the case if the interval of the cam is the same as the

slave interval.
In the example described above Cam2 could be started in absolute mode if the position

intervals of master and slave are 360°, matching the range of the cam. In this case it is of

no importance whether the cam starts periodically or non-periodically.
This would not be possible if the slave interval was 270°, for example (marked by the light

blue lines).

In this case, the slave would be in position 90 at the point of transition between Cam1 and

Cam2. Starting Cam2 in absolute mode at this point would produce the grey curve and a

jump would occur. However, programming a corresponding slave offset of 90 would

provide a possible workaround.
