CNC editor

The CNC editor in the »PLC Designer« supports the programming of multidimensional

movements of both graphics and textual format based on the CNC language of DIN 66025.
In principle, movements with up to 9 dimensions can be programmed, whereby only two

dimensions are interpolated in a non-linear fashion. In other words, straight lines, circles,

circular arcs, parabolas and splines can be programmed in two dimensions and the other

directions are simply interpolated in a linear fashion.
The »PLC Designer« creates a global data structure (CNC data) automatically for every path

generated. This structure is available in the IEC program. This can be achieved in various

ways:

 The CNC program is stored as an Array of G-code words and is decoded at PLC program

runtime using a decoder POU in order to make it available for the individual path

objects (GEOINFO structure objects). They can then be edited using path preprocessing

modules (e.g. tool radius correction) before being interpolated, transformed, and

transferred back to the Drive Interface for communication with the hardware. For more

information, see the POUs in SM_CNC.lib.

Note!

The CNC editor will only be available if ...
• The SoftMotion add-on has been installed and
• An automation system with the SoftMotion add-on has been selected in the

Target Settings dialog box.
