General Monitor Problems

The following tables contain general troubleshooting techniques for

the FlowShark IS flow monitor.

Problem

Monitor does not answer via wireless communication.

Possible

Causes

Signal strength to the modem may be insufficient.

Battery pack(s) may be dead or below the minimum
voltage requirement (8.0 volts external, 6.5 volts
internal).

Modem Reset PCB failure may have occurred.

Wireless network failure may have occurred.

Antenna may be defective.

Monitor may be defective.

Modem in EMU may be defective.

Leading zeros are included before or within the IP
address.

Possible

Solutions

If signal strength has been marginal, consider trying the
other GSM/GPRS operating frequency by connecting
the EMU to the other antenna cable. Attempt
communications again and verify whether signal
strength has improved.

Replace either the EMU battery or the monitor battery if
either one is reading below the minimum voltage
requirement.

Try connecting to other wireless units (i.e., other ADS
wireless sites) in the same area. If all connections fail
for similar IP addresses and/or none of the wireless
connections are successful, a wireless network outage
may be occurring in the area. Contact your regional
ADS representative to investigate a possible outage.

Replace the monitor.

Delete any leading zeros included before or within the IP
address.
