External Power

The monitor (and EMU) also can receive power from an external

DC power source. All external power to the monitor comes through

the EMU and is delivered to the monitor via the Communication

Cable (ADS p/n 106227). The EMU contains protection circuitry

that limits the amount of power that can reach the monitor. The

internal monitor and EMU battery packs must be removed prior to

connecting the units to external power. External power eliminates

the need for periodic battery pack replacement and disposal. For

more information, refer to Chapter 5, External Power.

Note:

Although no longer sold, the Rechargeable Battery

Pack (RBP - ADS Model 3600RBP) can be connected

directly to the 5000-IS1 or connected via the approved Y

cable.

Warning:

With the exception of the RBP noted above,

under no circumstances can the monitor receive external

power directly. Attempting to power the monitor without

an EMU will void the warranty and potentially create an

unsafe operating condition in hazardous areas.
