Remote Console Installation Overview

For best results at the remote console, use an ANSI color terminal that supports 25-
line mode and IBM PC character set, the configuration supported by the HP Remote
Assistant Communications Software (Terminal Plus). Terminal Plus requires a
386-based (or faster) PC, running Windows 3.1, 3.11, Windows 95, or Windows NT
3.5x, with at least 12 MB of available hard disk space, depending upon the terminal
emulation program you choose.

For remote console redirection, you'll also need

at least 16 MB of disk space for pcANYWHERE32. For NT graphics console
redirection, the remote console must be a 486-based (or faster) PC running Windows
95 or Windows 3.51 with at least 16 MB of available hard disk space.

Setting Up Terminal Emulation

Before you begin remote management of servers using HP Remote Assistant, you need
to set up terminal emulation at the remote console and at the server. From the two
options for remote terminal emulation described, choose the one best suits your needs.

Option 1: Managing a server from a remote PC console

If you will be managing your server from a Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups,
Windows NT 3.51, or Windows 95 PC console, you should use the HP Remote
Assistant Communications Software (Terminal Plus) included with this product.

The version of Terminal Plus packaged with HP Remote Assistant has been
customized for use with HP Remote Assistant, and includes features not provided in
the stand-alone version of Terminal Plus.

To install Terminal Plus:

1. Insert the HP Remote Assistant Console Diskette into your disk drive.

2. From the Windows Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu. Program

Manager displays the Run dialog box.

3. In the dialog box, type the following (substituting your drive ID if it is not A):
