G Battery Operation

Life Expectancy

The life expectancy of the battery pack varies depending on temperature extremes and
number of power cycles experienced by the cells. A nominal life expectancy will be
over two years. If the battery pack requires more than one hour to fully charge, or if
the board provides less than one hour of operation while operating on battery power, it
may be time to replace the battery pack.

Replacement

You can order a replacement battery pack from Hewlett-Packard (Part Number:
D2967-63214).

To replace the battery pack:

1. Remove the HP Remote Assistant EISA Board from the server, reversing the steps

shown for board installation in your server documentation.

2. Place the board on a clean non-conductive surface and use a Philips screwdriver to

remove the two screws attaching the metal board stiffener to the board.

3. Locate the two plastic darts attaching the battery pack to the board and use a coin

or other small object to push the darts out of the holes in the board.

4. Slide the new battery pack into place and insert the two new plastic darts provided

with the new battery pack.

5. Replace the two screws holding the board stiffener in place.

6. Re-install the HP Remote Assistant EISA Board in the server.

Disposal

Nickel Cadmium batteries contain a toxic substance, cadmium, and should be disposed
of in a responsible fashion. See the section "Battery Disposal," at the front of this
document for information on proper disposal of the battery pack.
