5 Using HPRA to Manage Server Operations

102

Select NT Graphics Console Redirection. The display responds with:

Going into NT Redirection mode...

Control of the modem port is released for use by pcANYWHERE32 and the server is
set to await your call back. Follow the on-screen instructions.

EXIT Terminal Plus and call back the server using pcANYWHERE32. Disregard the
NO CARRIER message.

NOTE

The remote server waits up to five minutes for the console to connect and
take control. If a connection is not established within five minutes, HP
Remote Assistant returns to character mode.

At pcANYWHERE32's Main Menu, click Remote Control. Then click the icon
representing the server you are calling.

Your server is dialed and the graphics mode is established when the connection is
made. The display and control of your server's console is redirected to your remote
console. Depending on the speed of your modem connection, all operations performed
at the server are displayed on your remote console. Remote mouse and keyboard
control are also provided.

When you are ready to disconnect, click the End Session button, then disable the "Host
Accepts Another Call" checkbox in the End Session window.

NOTE

If you don't disable the "Host Accepts Another Call", your server will be
expecting another graphics session. Therefore you won't be able to initiate a
call using Terminal Plus. After five minutes with no connection, HP Remote
Assistant automatically returns to character mode.

To customize your remote control configuration for more options and greater security
(such as creating a custom caller connection item for each host or using passwords),
refer to the pcANYWHERE32 online help.
