5 Using HPRA to Manage Server Operations

108

HP Remote Assistant maintains a log of bus activity for the preceding seven days (if
the HP Remote Assistant has not been shut down during that period). You can page
through the last seven days by typing P or N, and pressing Enter. You can display a
table for the entire seven-day period by typing D and pressing Enter.

Capturing a Bus Utilization Table

If you are using Terminal Plus for terminal emulation, you can capture a currently
displayed table and save it to a text file with the Receive Text File command. After a
chart is saved, it can be imported into another application for manipulation and
storage. For more information on capturing a text file, refer to the Terminal Plus
online documentation.

NOTE

Terminal Plus includes a Windows 3.1x demonstration script,
GETUTIL.DCT that uses Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) to send the
contents of the utilization table to Microsoft Excel, where it can be converted
into a chart. Before running the demonstration script, make sure that Excel is
either in the DOS path or is currently running, and that the HP Remote
Assistant Main Menu is currently displayed on your terminal emulation
screen. When you are ready to run the script, choose Execute from the Script
menu, then choose the script GETUTIL.DCT.

8. Event Management Configuration

HP Remote Assistant provides a menu of problem management settings that you can
use to enable or disable the action HP Remote Assistant will perform when a server
event occurs. When you choose Event Management Configuration from the Main
Menu, HP Remote Assistant displays the Event Management Menu. (Defaults are
shown below.)
