5 Using HP Remote Assistant to

Manage Server Operations

Once Terminal Plus for Windows is running on the console, a qualified administrator
(configured in the HP Remote Assistant Configuration Utility) can log into the server
and begin using HP Remote Assistant to manage server operations.

The HP Remote Assistant initiates remote console redirection via the Terminal Plus
program (included in the package). If you want NT graphical redirection capability,
pcANYWHERE32 must be installed on both the server and the remote console.

By default, Terminal Plus expects a modem connection to the HP Remote Assistant
board in the server.

Remotely Logging In to the Server

pcANYWHERE32 must be already installed and configured as a host before it will
accept a call from your remote console. This should have been done when you
installed pcANYWHERE32 (see Chapter 4).

NOTE

Once installed and properly configured, pcANYWHERE32 runs as a startup
service on your server and is therefore always ready for a call from your
remote console.

You must first start Terminal Plus at the remote console. To log in:

1. From the remote console, run the Terminal Plus communications program. You

should see your modem initialization string displayed and an "

OK

" to show that

your modem is ready.

Do one of the following:

Dial in to the server you wish to manage by double-clicking the Server's icon
and configuring a server phone number from the Terminal Plus dialer screen.

OR

Click Phone from the toolbar. Then click Dial from the drop-down menu.
Enter your server's phone number, and, if necessary, include an outside line
prefix number or area code.
