E Graceful Shutdown Keystroke

Syntax

General Guidelines

If HP Remote Assistant's graceful shutdown feature is enabled, an administrator can
use the HP Remote Assistant Configuration Utility to specify a keystroke sequence that
HP Remote Assistant uses to perform a graceful shutdown. HP Remote Assistant
provides a syntax for entering complex keystrokes.

You can test shutdown strings from the remote console by running the HP Remote
Assistant Management Program and choosing Shut Down NOS from the Server Reset
Menu. For more information, see "Resetting the Server," in Chapter 5.

Syntax Rules

Use left and right curly braces ({ and }) to delimit keystrokes that are not printable.
(Keystroke codes for non-printable characters are provided in the table at the end of
the appendix.) Keystrokes that print can be entered directly in the string and do not
require delimiters. For example, if a shutdown is performed by typing "EXIT" and
pressing Enter, the string would be specified as

EXIT {ENTER}.

Specify keystroke combinations with the hyphen (-) character. For example, if you
need to send the keystroke combination CTRL-ESC as part of a shutdown string, you
would enter it as

{CTRL-ESC}

.

Specify pauses by entering a numeric value within the delimiters. Each number
represents one second and you can specify up to 255 seconds for a pause. For example,

{10}

specifies a 10-second pause.
