6 Troubleshooting

This chapter provides some guidelines for troubleshooting HP Remote Assistant.

Problems With Installation

My server does not have a power control adapter to which I can connect
the power control cable.

You can not use HP Remote Assistant's server power-cycle and graceful shutdown
features.

ASR drivers were already loaded on my server when it was configured
for HP NetServer Assistant.

For NetWare, Windows NT, and OS/2, the ASR drivers provided with HP Remote
Assistant are the same as those provided with NSA 2.4. If you have installed NSA 2.4
or later, you do not need to re-install ASR from the HP Remote Assistant Server
Diskette
. For SCO UNIX, you can use either ASR from NSA or from the HP Remote
Assistant SCO ASR Driver Diskette
.

My server fails to power on after the installation of the HP Remote
Assistant EISA Board.

Make sure that the power control cable is connected correctly and seated properly on
both the HP Remote Assistant and the system board. Verify that the red reset button on
the back panel of the HP Remote Assistant EISA Board is depressed.

After installation of HP Remote Assistant, the server fails to boot.

Run the EISA Configuration Utility from the HP NetServer Navigator CD to correctly
configure your server for the new board. Failure to do this will cause some systems to
display configuration errors and halt the boot process. The same effect can occur
whenever an EISA board is added to a system without proper configuration.
